Business owners often think process improvement has to be a massive overhaul. The truth? Lean thinking thrives on small, practical steps.

Here’s one that can save you hours each week: Standardise your file naming conventions.

Why it matters:

  • No more wasted time searching for the “latest” version.

  • Staff know exactly where to find and save documents.

  • Onboarding becomes easier, because new team members aren’t guessing.

Lean isn’t about adding more complexity — it’s about removing waste. In this case, the waste is the time and frustration caused by inconsistency.

Tip: Pick a simple format (e.g., ProcessName_Version_Date) and stick to it across the whole business.

What’s one small tweak you could make this week to remove wasted effort in your business?
